1.  Exercising the Law of Attraction

What would you do if you knew you could not fail? Bold question, isn't it? Here's another one: If a genie said you could have whatever you want, what would you ask for? Well, guess what. Each of us has a genie inside of us. Religious writings and now the science of Quantum Physics shows us that we can create whatever we want. These concepts are outlined in movies like "What the Bleep Do We Know" and "The Secret" as well as the books "The Law of Attraction." As a Law of Attraction Coach, I have personally witnessed all people who have participated in my workshops and as my clients a 100% success rate in manifesting their intentions through my personal three-step method. I developed and started using this method about ten years ago, long before the Law of Attraction became common knowledge.
 
So, let's take a brief look at the concept and then do the exercise is #4 below. When I start to complicate the process, I go back to the phrase "what you think is what you get." This means that if you think about something you don't want, you will still attract it. What you focus on gets larger and larger. This is the natural law of the universe. So, having said that, let's turn this law to our favour. What do you want? What is your overall theme for this year for you in one simple sentence? My theme for this year is I am fully alive. A friend of mine has the theme I am coming into my own. Another one I like is I know what I want and I know how to get it. How about: It doesn't have to be hard and I don't have to do it alone. Last year my theme was I make myself visible. And guess what happened: I sold 500 books! Easily! How's that for visible. So, once you create a theme you can then focus on the law of attraction in more specific ways. For example, I decided that what I needed to feel more fully alive is more supportive and life-enhancing peers, colleagues and mentors in my life. And then I decided that the way to attract that to me is to create for myself a 100-day challenge of meeting one new person every day that would fall into that category. Since I have created my theme statement (third week in December) and my 100-day challenge (second week in January), I have made a friend that checks in with me to support better eating habits so my energy is constant all day long, went to a Life Directions Intensive conference in Vancouver and spent three days with over 300 people and served as a coach for the particpants in the conference, attended a book club meeting that was studying my book and met another 10 people, went to a friend's house who had many guests from out of town, went to a music jam and met 15 new people and a 5 rhythms dance class where there were 30 people. In between that, there were new connections being made every day. This all happened with what felt like very little effort on my part.
 
Okay. Your turn. What is your theme for the year? And what small challenge would you like to make to yourself for the next 100 days (optional)? And what do you need in order to have your theme come true? What resources or activities? Remember you don't have to do it alone. Let other people know your theme. Invite them to do the same. Other people are part of your resources. Now we go to the action step below to "attract what you want into your life easily and quickly".

2.  Did you know?
 
The Positive Emotion of Elevation - This is based on some work I read about by Jonathan Haidt in Prevention and Treatment, Volume 3, Article 3, posted March 7, 2000. Did you know that elevation is described as "a warm, uplifting feeling that people experience when they see unexpeced acts of human goodness, kindness, and compassion. It makes a person want to help others and to become a better person himself or herself. The circumstances that caused elevation involved seeing someone else give help or aid to a person who was poor or sick or stranded. It caused changes in the onlooker described as being surprised, stunned and emotionally moved. "Their descriptions imply that cognitive structures were changing under the surface -- changing their view about humanity in a more optimistic way and triggering more prosocial goals for themselves." The consequences of these changes can have life-altering effects. Feelings of elevation fostered love, admiration and a desire for closer affiliation with the doer of the good deed. In another study, participants who watched an elevating video clip reported "feeling more loving and inspired, they more strongly wanted to perform prosocial and affiliative actions." What is most striking about elevation is that it has the power to spread and can improve entire communities. This prosocial effect is significant and warrants further study and development.
 
My personal experience and background as a coach has made me keenly sensitive to the effects of positive and negative news and environments on our state of well-being. We have clear choices about what we allow into our lives in the form of news, television, newspapers, books, email, internet. We can also look at the people we allow into our lives. All of this affects our ability to think higher thoughts, experience elevating emotions and have our actions come from higher thoughts and emotions. So let's look for the ways we can experience the emotion of elevation. What are some of your ways? 4.  Action step for you
 
Okay. Here is your action step to prove to yourself that the Law of Attraction will work for you:
Step 1: Write one sentence in the positive of what you will attract to yourself in the next seven days. Start small so as to not be overwhelmed. For example, I manifest a new coaching client in the next seven days that will commit to coaching for three months or more and is a good fit for me and I for them.
Step 2: Let it go. Energetically release it to the universe. Envision it leaving your body in the form of a stream of pure light upwards and let it leave your body completely. Be confident that the universe will now go to work for you to make your choice manifest. Allow the universe the space to do the work. Have faith that the universe will do the work. You are supported by the universe. Be "non-attached to outcome."
Step 3: Be open to the possibilities that present themselves. You may see events within a couple of hours that show you that something is happening. When I first started doing this I would see results in about two weeks. Now, sometimes I see results within a couple of hours. Spooky but cool. Also, start looking at what you can do to line things up. Take small action steps, a phone call, an email, saying something to someone you normally wouldn't. Align yourself with the universe working for you.
